Hi everyone, I’m Natasha Zuvela and today’s episode is the first in a series of shows where I’ll be discussing the concept of fears and how to overcome them.
I’d like to share my experiences and knowledge around fears, phobias and the courage it takes to deal with them because they have played such an important role in unlocking my dreams and leading me to the life I was destined for.
As a young girl, I was terrified of many things. Growing up, I suffered from a huge fear of public speaking, partly due to my experiences with dyslexia.
This greatly affected my self-esteem and self-confidence. I remember having to read in front of the class and struggling so much that I wished I would just disappear. To combat this issue, I had to read aloud every day for an hour and eventually I started to enjoy it.
I managed to overcome my fears and go on to become a TV presenter and public speaker – life truly works in mysterious ways to unlock our destinies.
But not all of our fears hold us back, in fact some fears are healthy and keep us alive. For example, the fight or flight response in us helps us to respond and react to potentially life threatening situations.
But many of us are letting fears get in the way of achieving success and fulfilment. Think for a moment about what you’re fearful of. It might not be so obvious, so perhaps you’ll need to dig a little deeper to uncover what’s really holding you back.
Maybe it’s a fear of being alone, a fear of being unworthy, a fear of confrontation or a fear of the unknown.
Whatever your fears are, perhaps it’s time you faced them because every treasure in this life is guarded by a doorway of fear. We are all on this earth to grow and overcoming fears is a natural part of that process. When we resist the natural growth process, life becomes difficult and it can feel as though we are swimming against the current.
So, my challenge to you today is to own your fears. Examine them, get to know them. Write them down, share them with us here and start opening yourself up to the journey of inner change.
I look forward to sharing more of my journey to overcoming fears with you and hearing about yours, so please share with us in the comments below.
